This Policy applies to information collected when our customers (collectively, “you” or” your”) choose to use the Siteimprove Intelligence Platform (collectively, the “Services”).
This Policy describes: (i) the types of information you instruct us to collect and process when you use the Services; (ii) the types of information we ask you to provide for our own purposes; and (iii) our practices for collecting, using, maintaining, protecting, and disclosing that information. Keep in mind that Siteimprove will only use Personal Data for the purpose that it is provided to us (the “Purpose”). Siteimprove does not sell Personal Data to any third party.
Siteimprove is a software-as-a-service (SaaS) company that provides access to Services that scan and analyze your website. The Services consist of a collection of tools for controlling and optimizing website content, improving search engine optimization (SEO), monitoring website performance, and utilizing website analytics data. As such, our Services collect and process your website data by crawling the requested website, storing cache copies of the content, analyzing the content, and detailing the results in reports generated on the SaaS platform. When you choose to use our Services, we strictly follow your instructions in collecting and processing your website data in accordance with the specific Services that you have selected. We do not use that data for any other Purpose.
Siteimprove also collects Personal Data from you as a customer (i.e. not Personal Data from website visitors or individuals on your website – see below) for the Purpose of establishing the customer/Siteimprove relationship and fulfilling our contractual obligations to you, including:
We may collect information that personally identifies your website visitors and individuals whose information appears on your website (“Personal Data”). Personal Data on your website will typically consist of names, postal addresses, e-mail addresses, telephone numbers or any other information on your website which can be directly or indirectly attributed to an individual.

Siteimprove’s Services are not intended for the collection or processing of any sensitive data (e.g., health or sex life information; racial or ethnic origin; political opinions or religious/ philosophical beliefs; trade-union membership). If you run our Services on a website containing this type of information or request that we process Personal Data without having obtained the necessary consent of the data subject, then you will be solely liable for the consequence of such processing.
When you use our Services, there are two potential ways in which data is collected:
Ongoing – expires after 1000 days
This cookie is used to help visitors’ use of the website. It is used to collect statistics about site usage, such as when the visitor last visited the site. This information is then used to improve the user experience on the website. This Siteimprove Analytics cookie contains a randomly generated ID used to recognize the browser when a visitor reads a page. The cookie contains no personal information and is used only for web analytics.
This cookie is used purely to track the sequence of pages a visitor looks at during a visit to the site. This information can be used to create user journeys and enable visitors to find relevant information for quickly.
This cookie is used to determine if the user has accepted or declined cookies.
We store data differently depending on whether it us collected through the Services (i.e. when we are data processors) or if is collected by us to fulfill contractual obligation with you (i.e. when we are data controllers).

Siteimprove may send such Personal Data to affiliates, vendors and other sub-processors as necessary to fulfill our contractual obligations to you. Be advised that DocuSign, ZenDesk, and Hubspot process Personal Data in the United States. These transfers take place in accordance with applicable European Union data protection rules under security conditions enabling the protection of the Personal Data (i.e. Standard Contract Clauses).
We have implemented measures designed to secure your Personal Data from accidental loss and from unauthorized access, use, alteration and disclosure.

We will retain the Personal Data for as long as needed based on the Purpose for which you have authorized us to use it.

Your use of our Analytics Services allows you to select whether you wish to honor a visitor’s Do Not Track (DNT) signals. Please contact us if you wish to turn this option off or on.
Siteimprove aims to keep Personal Data accurate and up to date. You may send us an e-mail at email@example.com (if in the EU/EEA) or firstname.lastname@example.org (everywhere else) together with a proof of your identity to request access to, correct or delete any Personal Data that you have provided to us. Details on your rights to make these requests can be seen in the Data request form. In addition, you have the right to opt out of direct marketing. We may not accommodate a request to change information if we believe the change would violate any law or legal requirement or cause the information to be incorrect.
Our Services are not intended for children under 16 years of age. No one under age 16 may provide any information to or on the Services. We do not knowingly collect Personal Data from children under 16. If we learn that we have collected or received Personal Data from a child under 16 without verification of parental consent, we will delete that information. It is our policy to post any changes we make to the Policy in a revision table at the bottom of this document. If we make material changes to how we treat Personal Data, we will notify you by e-mail of the amended Policy.
